What types of bikes are available?
- Hybrids: The most popular choice. Bigger wheels, thinner tyres and lighter frames make them ideal for city riding. Ranging £150–£500, they’re the best for commuting.
- Mountain Bikes: Often cheaper, but heavier and less suited to city riding.
- Dutch / Lifestyle Bikes (e.g. Classique): Stylish, comfortable and practical.
Do all NEW bikes come with a warranty?
Yes. All new bikes include:
- Lifetime warranty on the frame
- 12 months’ warranty on all other parts against defects
(Excludes wear & tear or accidents)
Is my bike assembled?
Yes. Every bike is fully assembled and serviced.
- Includes a free second service after 6–8 weeks.
- No booking required — just drop it in and we’ll service it as soon as possible.
When can I collect my new bike?
- Normally ready within an hour.
- During peak times, it may be the next day.
- Let us know your preferred collection time and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
How much are second-hand bikes?
- Prices start from £80
- Fully serviced, safety-checked, and sold with at least a 1-month warranty
- All properly sourced — no risk of stolen goods
Do you buy bikes back?
Yes. We’ll buy back your bike within 12 months for up to 40% of its value, depending on condition.
- Most of our second-hand bikes come through this scheme, so we know they’re genuine and not stolen.
What if something goes wrong with my bike?
Bring it to your local Cycle King store.
- If it’s a simple fix, we may do it free of charge.
- If more work is needed, we’ll let you know the cost and timescale before starting repairs.
Accessories & Extras
Do I need a lock?
Yes. Always lock your bike — even for a few minutes.
- Cities like Cambridge have high theft levels.
- Look for a “Sold Secure” rated lock for the best protection.
Do I need lights?
Yes. Lights are a legal requirement — as a rule, when street lamps are on, your lights should be too.
- A daytime rear light also improves visibility.
- Always remove your lights when not in use (leave the bracket on the bike). Otherwise, they may be stolen.
Do I need a helmet?
Not required by law, but strongly recommended.

Can I add baskets, kickstands or mudguards?
Yes.
- Baskets: Front baskets from £12 (carry up to 5kg). Rear baskets require a pannier rack and carry 20–25kg.
- Kickstands: Can be fitted to most bikes (not always standard).
- Mudguards: Can be fitted to all bikes if not already included.
