What can I get through the scheme?
Any bike or e-bike with at least two wheels, plus most essential commuting accessories, including helmets, locks, lights, clothing and more.
Is there a spending limit?
Many employers offer no upper limit. Some providers (e.g., GCI) specialise in high-value e-bikes. Always check with your employer first.
Can I add my own money on top?
No. UK Government guidance requires the entire order value to be covered by the voucher. Personal top-ups are not permitted.
Can I change items after applying?
No. Once your voucher is issued, items and order value cannot be amended. Include everything you need (including delivery if applicable) when applying.
How long does approval take?
Once you place your order and submit your voucher, approval usually takes 24 hours — sometimes slightly longer, depending on the provider.
Do I have to commute every day?
No. Technically, at least 50% of rides should be for work-related journeys, but the rest can be leisure.
How do the savings work?
Payments come from your gross salary. Your taxable income is reduced, lowering the tax and NI you pay — this difference is your saving.
How often can I apply?
Most employers allow one application every 12 months.
Can I get more than one bike?
Usually yes — often up to two bikes on the same voucher, as long as both are for you and used mainly for commuting.
Should I include delivery?
Yes. Delivery costs must be included within the voucher amount.
Are any items excluded?
Some non-essential electronics (e.g., GPS computers, advanced ride trackers) may be excluded depending on your provider. If excluded items are in your basket, the scheme payment option will not work.
